Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris, born October 20, 1964 was a prominent American politician and lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice presidency and the highest-ranking female official in U.S history. She is a part of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. Additionally she served as a United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Her professional career started in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later promoted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was appointed the San Francisco district attorney. In 2010, Harris was appointed Attorney General for California. Harris was elected again in 2014. From 2017 until 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election, becoming the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. Harris was a senator who fought for healthcare reform and federal de-scheduling cannabis. A pathway to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally recognized. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. Her name is well-known due to her direct questioning of Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
